Once again, the Soldiers Memorial Fund is conducting its July Fundraiser to help us prepare for sending care packages to our soldiers in the field, in harm’s way. As the fighting in Afghanistan continues, where major offensives to root out the Taliban are conducted, our soldiers are being asked to once again redouble their efforts.

Unfortunately, we have witnessed a sharp up tick in casualties because of these efforts. These men and women are over 6,000 miles from home, many for incredibly long hitches, many for the second and third times. Most all Americans know of someone, or some family that has had to endure these long separations, or worse. Most of us also know of someone lost in those theaters.

It is now more important than ever to remember, as the USA wages war with its allies against our enemies in the longest war in the history of the United States, we must remember the families at home as well. It is easy to be distracted by so many issues at home, but it is these folks that are making your life here possible.
